Accessibility

What this site targets, what it currently gets right, and — the part most of these statements leave out — what still falls short. If something here blocks you from buying, that is a defect and we want to hear about it.

In effect 30 August 2026 · Like A King Inc.

01

The target

WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act in practice, by Section 508, and by the European Accessibility Act, which has applied to online retail across the EU since June 2025.

We aim at it deliberately rather than claiming to have arrived. See section 3.

What is in place

Keyboard
Every link, button, size selector and the bag can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Focus is visible. A skip link is the first thing in the tab order.
Reduced motion
This site is animation-heavy. With “reduce motion” enabled in your operating system, the scroll-linked sequences, marquees and the WebGL scene stop — the content stays, the movement does not.
Structure
Real headings in order, real lists, real landmarks. Product images carry alternative text describing the garment and its print, not the filename.
Contrast
Body text and controls are checked against AA contrast ratios on the dark palette.
Georgian script
Mkhedruli is set in a typeface designed for it and marked with the correct language attribute, so a screen reader announces it as Georgian rather than spelling it out as Latin.
Zoom
The layout reflows to 200% zoom and to a 320px viewport without horizontal scrolling or clipped text.

What falls short

Publishing this part is the point. A statement that lists only successes is marketing, and it tells a disabled customer nothing useful.

No formal audit yet
The site has been tested by its builders with a keyboard, a screen reader and automated tooling. It has not been audited by an independent accessibility firm or by paid disabled testers. Until it has, treat AA as our target rather than a certified result.
The decorative WebGL scene
The particle field behind the opening chapter is hidden from assistive technology and disabled under reduced-motion. It may still be uncomfortable for some people with vestibular sensitivity who have not set that preference.
Checkout is Stripe's
Payment happens on Stripe’s own hosted page. Its accessibility is Stripe’s work, not ours. We chose it partly because it is maintained by a team larger than this one, but we do not control it — tell us if it fails you and we will escalate it and help you order another way.
Concierge chat
The chat window is newer than the rest of the site and has had the least assistive-technology testing. Everything it can tell you is also written on the product and policy pages.

Reporting a barrier

Use the contact form and say which page and what happened. You do not need to know the standard or name the failure — “the size buttons do not work with my keyboard” is a perfect report.

Acknowledgement
Within 3 business days, by a person.
A plan
Within 10 business days: what we found, whether we can fix it, and when. If we cannot fix something quickly we say so rather than going quiet.
Meanwhile
If a barrier stops you completing an order, tell us through the form and we will take the order that way and send you a payment link. You are never left unable to buy because of a defect on our side.
05

Formal complaints

If our response is inadequate, say so and it escalates. Beyond that, customers in the United States may contact the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, and customers in the EU may contact the national market surveillance authority designated under the European Accessibility Act.
